Drive Axle Shaft (Left): Removal

Remove wheel. Remove wheel speed sensor. See WHEEL SPEED SENSOR  . Drain transmission oil. Press brake pedal to floor and remove collar nut. See Fig 1 . Release screws and remove brake caliper. See Fig 2 . Tie back brake caliper. Release nut and detach tie rod end with Special Tool (323 090). See Fig 3 . Release nut and use Special Tool (321 l90) to detach control arm from steering knuckle. See Fig 4 . Remove circlip and detach inner drive shaft joint from transmission. See Fig 5 . Remove bolt and remove steering knuckle from spring strut. See Fig 6 . Support steering knuckle. Lift out drive shaft with steering knuckle and remove drive shaft from steering knuckle. See Fig 7 .
