51 00 ... Removing and installing/replacing bonnet stripes

NOTE: The bonnet stripes are bonded to the paintwork, therefore it will not be possible to re-use the stripes once removed.

The bonnet stripes must be attached at room temperature.

Using a heat gun, gently apply heat to bonnet stripes and peel back until fully removed.

Install hint:

Any adhesive / grease residue must be removed prior to installation by the use of an appropriate paintwork cleaning agent.

Identify center line of bonnet (1).

Measure distance of bonnet stripe locations from the center line as follows:

A) 215 mm.

B) 345 mm.

Apply a soap solution to both the bonnet and bonnet stripe (adhesive side).

NOTE: Mix a soap solution to NO more than 1 part soap to 20 parts water.

Position bonnet stripe (2) to marked positions and secure to bonnet using a cloth.

Whilst the soap solution remains wet, ensure there are NO creases or air bubbles between bonnet stripe and bonnet and ensure correct bonnet stripe position.

Avoid excessive repositioning of bonnet stripe during the above, as the bonding strength could be effected.

Repeat the above for the second bonnet stripe.

Allow soap solution to FULLY dry.

Clean soap solution residue.
