11 14 141 Replacing shaft seal below timing chain cover

Special tools required: 

• 11 2 320
• 11 8 241
• 11 8 242
• 11 8 270
• 11 8 290

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove vibration damper. Refer to 11 23 010 Removing and installing or replacing vibration damper (COOPER S)  .

Insert special tool 11 8 270 in crankshaft.

Place special tool 11 8 290 on crankshaft and screw in until is firmly contacts shaft seal (1).

Pull out shaft seal (1) by tightening screw.

Remove special tool 11 8 270.

Screw special tool 11 8 242 into crankshaft.

Coat sealing lip of new shaft seal with oil.

Press in shaft seal with special tools 11 2 320 and 11 8 241.

Installation: 

The shaft seal is correctly fitted when it is flush with the timing chain cover.

Assemble engine.

Check engine for leaks.
