51 32 154 Adjusting left or right front door window

Special Tools Required:
- 51 3 010
- 51 3 080
- 51 3 240
If necessary, adjust door. Refer to 51 21 004 ADJUSTING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR DETENT .
Preload:
Ideal adjustment:
Raise door window to end position.
Close front door until door lock is held in first door catch (1).
In this position the top edge of door window (2) must touch door seal (3) when it is subjected to load with light finger pressure.
Release preload adjusting screws (1).
Adjust position of window glass with adjustment mechanism (2) for preload.
Check adjustment, see appropriate Preload - Ideal adjustment article.
Repeat procedure until ideal adjustment is reached, then tighten down adjusting screw (1) for preload.
Tightening torque, refer to 51 33 3AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Position Of Window Glass:
Ideal adjustment:
Open door, attach special tool 51 3 080 to door window glass and close door.
Measure penetration depth at positions (1 to 3).
Measurements for R50/R53:
1 = 5 mm.
2 = 5 mm.
3 = 3.5 mm.
Measurements for R52 (Convertible):
1 = 6 +/- 1 mm.
2 = 6 +/- 1 mm.
3 = 4.5 +/- 1.5 mm.
Adjusting Door Window Glass:
Remove outer cover strip. Refer to 51 21 300 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WINDOW CAVITY COVER STRIP ON OUTER SIDE OF FRONT DOOR .
Slacken shims (1) of door window glass with special tool 51 3 240, do not release fully.
Apply masking tape with special tool 51 3 080 to points 1, 2 and 3 (measuring points for penetration depth).
Fully raise door window to end position.
Attach special tool 51 3 010 and adjust door window in correct position.
Tighten down shims on door window glass with special tool 51 3 240.
Tightening torque, refer to 51 32 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Initialize window. Refer to 67 62 ... NOTES ON INITIALIZING POWER WINDOW UNIT (FRONT) .
