51 21 170 Removing and installing/replacing outside handle on left or right front door

Remove door trim panel. Refer to 51 41 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL .

Pull inner door handle cable (1) downwards to disconnect cable from door locking lever (2).

Remove cable from cable guide (3).

Installation: 

Make sure cable is correctly routed.

Remove screw (1).

Tightening torque, refer to 51 21 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .

The screw is accessible from the inner side of the door (2) through an opening under the door cavity cover strip.

Remove screw (3) and then spacer (4).

Tightening torque, refer to 51 21 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .

Installation: 

When fitting a new door handle, insert the screws (self-tapping screws) in the door handle prior to installation.

Remove door handle (1) from door.
