52 13 000 Removing and installing left or right front seat (TU)
WARNING:
Observe safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners. Refer to AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
for model year 2002, or AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
for model year 2003, or AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
for model year 2004-05. Incorrect handling may trigger off pyrotechnical belt tensioners or the side airbag, which may result in injury.
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery. Refer to 12 00 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
- Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery. Refer to 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Slide front seat as far forward as possible.
Release and dispose of screws (1).
Installation:
Replace screws.
Tightening torque, refer to 52 13 1AZ in SEATS - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Slide front seat as far back as possible.
Release and dispose of screws (1).
Tightening torque, refer to 52 13 1AZ in SEATS - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Carefully tip front seat towards rear.
Unlock and disconnect plug connections under front seat.
IMPORTANT:
Cover entrance for protection purposes (risk of damage). Seat frame has very sharp edges. Danger of injury!
Lift out front seat.
Installation:
Carpet must not get between seat rails and floor pan in area of screw fastening points (grating noises).
