51 23 004 Adjusting engine hood/bonnet lock

Position Of Engine Hood/Bonnet Striker Plate: 

Ideal adjustment:

The engine hood/bonnet striker plate must be correctly positioned on both sides, as shown in the picture.

To check on the left side, unhook the safety arrester hook.

Adjusting: 

Unfasten screws (1).

Slide lock in required direction.

Tighten down screws.

Release engine hood/bonnet contact on underside and remove in direction of arrow.

Unfasten screws (1).

Slide lock in required direction.

Tighten down screws.

Check adjustment, refer to appropriate article about position of engine hood/bonnet striker plate - ideal adjustment.

Repeat procedure until ideal setting is reached.

Gap Dimension, Engine Hood/Bonnet/Bumper: 

Adjust engine hood/bonnet/bumper gap.

Tighten down screws when the correct position is reached.

Tightening torque, refer to 51 23 1AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
