Control Arm & Bushings: Removal

Remove coil spring. See COIL SPRING REMOVAL in this article. Use a screwdriver to release parking brake cable from clamp on control arm. Disconnect stabilizer link from control arm. See Fig 1.

Remove hub nut. See WHEEL BEARING REMOVAL. Remove bearing hub, wheel flange and brake assembly. See Fig 2. Use wire to support brake assembly.
NOTE: The hub nut from left side of vehicle has left-hand threads. The hub nut from right side of vehicle has right-hand threads.

Working under vehicle, pull wheel stub shaft out of control arm. Remove control arm inner and outer bolts. To remove large control arm bushing, use Drawbolt (T78P-5638-A1), Receiver Cup T85M-5638-A2) and a 7/16" nut and washer.
To remove small control arm bushing, use Drawbolt T78P-5638-A1), Receiver Cup (T85M-5638-A1) and a 7/16" nut and washer.
