Master Cylinder: Disassembly

  1. Remove reservoir cap and drain master cylinder reservoir. Carefully clamp master cylinder in a vise. Pry reservoir out of master cylinder seals. Remove master cylinder seals. Remove "O" ring. Push primary piston inward.
  2. Remove snap ring. Remove washer from end of primary piston (if equipped). Remove primary piston. Tap master cylinder on a block of wood to remove secondary piston. Remove stop bolt. See Figure . Remove secondary piston. Remove seals from primary and secondary pistons.
    NOTE: As master cylinder is reassembled, lubricate parts with brake fluid.
