Fuel Gauge Sending Unit: (In-Vehicle)
- Connect a digital ohmmeter between fuel gauge sending unit terminal and ground. See Fig 1 . If ohmmeter reading is not 18-255 ohms, replace fuel gauge sending unit. If reading is 18-255 ohms, fill fuel tank to capacity. Ohmmeter reading should be 18-20 ohms. If ohmmeter reading is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Drain fuel tank using Rotunda Gasoline Tanker (034-00002). Observe fuel gauge reading while tank is being drained. Resistance should increase smoothly, without jumping or hesitating. If reading jumps or hesitates, replace sending unit.
- When the fuel tank is empty, ohmmeter reading should be 245-255 ohms. With a full tank of fuel, meter should read approximately 18-20 ohms. If gauge reading is not as specified, replace sending unit.
