Rear Brake Shoes: Inspection
- Check for free movement of cam, loose or damaged cam pin and loose or damaged hub (hub must be securely peened to strut). Check for elongated or twisted parking brake lever slot, damaged or worn teeth on cam and wheel.
- Check for any distortion or damage that may effect proper alignment of brake shoes. Check for loose anchor plate rivets (rivets must be tight and securely peened) and deep grooves in backing plate ledges that could restrict shoe movement.
- Check for loose hub bearing attaching bolts discoloration. Discoloration is a sign of brake overheating. Overheated springs lose some tension and should be replaced.
