Wheel Bearing: Inspection

  1. Thoroughly clean all parts in solvent. Blow dry all components using compressed air. Examine spindle carrier carefully for damaged caliper anchor bolt threads, damaged spindle carrier pinch bolt threads, worn bearing races and tapered or worn lower control arm or tie rod joints.
  2. In addition, carrier must be checked for cracks in casting and worn or damaged suspension strut seat. Inspect carrier flange shaft for damaged or loose wheel studs, worn or scored bearing surfaces and pitted or scored seal surfaces.
NOTE: Always replace bearings and races as a matched set.
