Side Play

  1. Mount Dial Indicator (4201-C) with Plunger (T79L-4201A) extended through oil outlet tube to contact shaft.
  2. Apply pressure to adjust turbine assembly away from dial indicator.With turbine assembly fully adjusted in the opposite direction, zero the dial indicator.
  3. Pull the turbine assembly toward indicator and measure the clearance. If side play is less than .003" (.075 mm) or exceeds .006" (.150 mm), turbocharger assembly should be replaced.
