Timing Belt: Removal

  1. Remove timing belt outer cover. Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC. Check location of camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks. Check location of distributor rotor position. If all timing marks do not align, align camshaft sprocket mark with inner cover timing mark. Ensure camshaft is on No. 1 cylinder TDC.
  2. Loosen belt tensioner adjustment bolt. Using Camshaft Belt Tensioner Tool (T74P-6254-A), release belt tensioner from belt and tighten adjusting bolt to hold tensioner.
  3. Remove crankshaft damper pulley and belt guide. Remove timing belt and replace if necessary.
