Timing Belt: Installation

  1. Position crankshaft sprocket, camshaft sprocket and distributor rotor in proper position. See TIMING ADJUSTMENT  above in this article. Place timing belt around crankshaft sprocket. Keeping belt on crankshaft sprocket, route belt around auxiliary sprocket.
  2. Ensure rotor is at No. 1 spark plug tower. Route timing belt around camshaft sprocket and position belt at tensioner. Loosen tensioner adjusting bolt and allow tensioner to tighten belt.
  3. Recheck all timing alignment marks and readjust if necessary. Ensure distributor rotor is at No. 1 spark plug tower. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Set engine timing to specifications.
