Removal (Lower Intake)

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system. Disconnect knock sensor, fan temperature sensor, EEC-IV coolant temperature sensor, fuel injection wiring harness and coolant temperature sender connectors. See Figure.
  2. Disconnect coolant by-pass line from lower intake manifold. Depressurize EFI fuel system by connecting vacuum pump to fuel pressure regulator valve. Apply a minimum of 25 in. Hg for at least 3 minutes. Remove vacuum pump.
  3. Disconnect fuel supply line from fuel supply manifold. See Fig 1. Using Quick Connect Remover/Replacer (T82L-9500-AH), disconnect fuel return line. Remove pulse damper and place aside. Remove upper intake manifold. See REMOVAL (UPPER INTAKE) in this article.
  4. Remove 8 lower intake manifold bolts and remove lower manifold. Remove 2 bolts retaining each fuel injector and remove 4 fuel injectors. Remove fuel supply manifold assembly.
