Hydraulic Lifters: Inspection
- Lifter assemblies must be installed in original locations. Clean and inspect lifters. Place lifter upright in Leak-Down Tester (6500-E) and check for leak-down rate of .125" (3.17 mm) in 2-8 seconds with a 50 lb. load.
- Inspect lifter-to-cam lobe contact area for wear and abnormalities. See the LIFTER SPECIFICATION table. Check lifter-to-bore clearance. If not within specifications, replace necessary components.
