Camshaft & Bearings: Removal

  1. With cylinder head removed, place head assembly on blocks or pins with camshaft facing up. Using Front Cover Seal Remover (T74P-6700-B), remove camshaft seal.
  2. Using Valve Spring Compressor (T74P-6565-A), compress valve and spring assembly. Remove camshaft follower out and over lifter. Ensure all components are kept in order of removal for installation.
  3. With camshaft followers removed, remove lock plate at rear of camshaft. Slide camshaft out front of cylinder head. Remove plug from rear of camshaft.
  4. Using Camshaft Bearing Kit (T65L-6250-A), remove No. 3 and 4 bearing from rear of head. Remove No. 1 and 2 bearing from front of head. Clean and inspect camshaft bearing journals.
