Oil Pump: Inspection

Wash components in solvent and blow dry. Check oil pump body for scoring in outer race bore. Minor scoring is normal, but if cover surface is worn, scored or grooved, replace pump. Measure clearance of body-to-outer race with feeler gauge. Measure clearance at rotor tip-to-outer race. See OIL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS  table in this article.
