Rear Brakes
With rear brake drums removed, check for free movement of cam; loose or damaged cam pin; loose or damaged hub (hub must be securely peened to strut); bends or distortion, elongated or twisted parking brake lever slot; damaged or worn teeth on cam and wheel; distortion or damage that may effect proper alignment of brake shoes; loose anchor plate rivets (rivets must be tight and securely peened); deep grooves in backing plate ledges that could restrict shoe movement; loose hub bearing attaching bolts; discoloration - discoloration is a sign of brake overheating. Overheated springs lose some tension and should be replaced.
