Oil Pressure Indicator

NOTE: On models equipped with engine warning lamp, temperature switch wire must be removed prior to oil pressure gauge testing.
  1. Turn ignition on (DO NOT start engine). At this time, oil indicator light should illuminate. If not, remove sending unit wire connector and attach to ground.
  2. If light now comes on, replace sending unit. If the light does not illuminate, the lamp is burned out or an open exists in the wiring harness between gauge and ground.
  3. If the indicator light illuminates continuously, check oil level and add if necessary. Remove sending unit wire. If light remains on, remove sending unit and verify oil pressure is 40-60 psi (2.9-4.2 kg/cm2 ) at 2000 RPM.
  4. If light is still on, replace sending unit or repair short circuit in wiring harness between switch and lamp.
