Pinpoint Test F: The Speedometer Is Inoperative

F1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM AND TCM KOEO SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded PCM and TCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : DIAGNOSE all PCM and TCM DTCs first. REFER to INTRODUCTION -- GASOLINE MODELS and INTRODUCTION -- FUSION HYBRID, MILAN HYBRID & MKZ HYBRID article article.
- No : GO to F2.

F2 CARRY OUT THE SPEEDOMETER ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

Ignition ON.
Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IPC DataLogger.

Select the IPC speedometer (SPDOMETER) active command. Command the speedometer according to the following table while monitoring the speedometer.

SPEEDOMETER REFERENCE TABLE

Speedometer Command	Gauge Position
0%	0 km/h (0 mph)
50%	97 km/h (60 mph)
100%	193 km/h (120 mph)

Does the speed begin at 0 km/h (0 mph) move to 97 km/h (60 mph) then 193 km/h (120 mph) and return to 0 km/h (0 mph)?

Yes : GO to F3.
No : INSTALL a new IPC . REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) in this service information. TEST the system for normal operation.

F3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : For DTC U0100:00 (non-hybrid), GO to PINPOINT TEST BF .
  For DTC U0101:00 (hybrid), GO to PINPOINT TEST BG . For DTC U0401:68 (non-hybrid) or U0402:68 (hybrid), RETRIEVE and REPAIR all non-network DTCs in the PCM and other modules on the network. REFER to the INTRODUCTION -- GASOLINE MODELS and INTRODUCTION -- FUSION HYBRID, MILAN HYBRID & MKZ HYBRID article article and MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article for a list of all DTCs. For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC TABLES in this service information.
- No : For non-hybrid vehicles, INSTALL a new PCM. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Engine Control article for the procedure. TEST the system for normal operation.
  For hybrid vehicles, INSTALL a new transaxle (TCM). REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (ECVT) - FUSION HYBRID, MILAN HYBRID & MKZ HYBRID article. TEST the system for normal operation.
