Pinpoint Test C: The Turn Signal On Warning Is Inoperative

- C1 VERIFY THE TURN SIGNAL OPERATION
- Verify the turn signal operation.
- Do the turn signals operate correctly?
- YES : Go to C2.
- NO : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article to continue diagnosis of the turn signals.
- C2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONFIGURATION
- Verify the instrument cluster is configured for turn signal on.
- Is the instrument cluster configured correctly?
- YES : Go to C3.
- NO : REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION article to configure the instrument cluster.
- C3 CHECK THE ODOMETER FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Drive the vehicle and monitor the odometer for correct operation.
- Does the odometer operate correctly?
- YES : Go to C4.
- NO : REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article to continue diagnosis of the odometer.
- C4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
