Pinpoint Test C: The Climate Control Panel Illumination Is Inoperative

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
  1. C1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Climate Control Assembly C294c
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
    • Move the instrument panel dimmer switch to the full illumination position.

    • Measure the voltage between the climate control assembly C294c-2, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  C2.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. C2 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure the resistance between the climate control assembly C294c-1, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new climate control assembly. REFER to CLIMATE CONTROL article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
