WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. K1 CARRY OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OUTPUT STATE CONTROL USING THE SCAN TOOL
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Output State Control
    • Enter the instrument cluster output state control and select BRK_LAMP. Command the brake warning indicator on and observe the brake warning indicator.
    • Does the brake warning indicator illuminate when commanded on?
    1. YES  : Go to  K2.
    2. NO  : Go to  K8.
  2. K2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PARKING BRAKE SWITCH PID
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster PID
    • Monitor the instrument cluster parking brake switch PID while applying the parking brake.
    • Does the PID agree with the parking brake position?
    1. YES  : Go to  K6.
    2. NO  : Go to  K3 .
  3. K3 CHECK THE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH (INDICATOR INOPERATIVE)
    • Disconnect: Parking Brake Switch C2015
    • Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the parking brake switch C2015-1, circuit 162 (LG/RD), harness side and the parking brake switch C2015-2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side.

    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. K8 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
    • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify that the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC)  in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
