Pinpoint Test O: The Parking Lamps Are Inoperative With The AUTOLAMPS On

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- O1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMP OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Are the parking lamps illuminated?
- YES : TURN the headlamp switch off. Go to O2 .
- NO : Go to Pinpoint Test P .
- O2 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: VSM C3008a
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the vehicle security module C3008a-6, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : TURN the headlamp switch off. Go to O3 .
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- O3 CHECK CIRCUIT 195 (TN/WH) FOR VOLTAGE
- Measure the voltage between the VSM C3008a-7, circuit 195 (TN/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : Go to O4.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- O4 CHECK FOR CORRECT VSM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
