Removal and Installation

All engines

Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
Disconnect the upper radiator hose and the degas bottle hose.
Disconnect the lower radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan shroud.

5.4L engines

CAUTION: The large clutch assembly nut has a right-hand thread and must be rotated counterclockwise to remove it.

Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
- To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 lb-ft).

6.8L engines

CAUTION: The large clutch assembly nut has a right-hand thread and must be rotated counterclockwise to remove it.

Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
- To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 lb-ft).

All engines

Carefully position the fan and the fan clutch into the shroud.

Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud bolts, the shroud, fan and clutch.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
