Normal Operation
The Instrument Cluster (IC) receives the odometer rolling count data from the PCM (non-hybrid) or from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (hybrid) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. The IC monitors the odometer rolling count input from the PCM or TCM and commands the odometer with a display in the integrated display area (base cluster) or the message center display (message center cluster).
If the IC does not receive the odometer rolling count data from the PCM/TCM for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U0100 (non-hybrid) or U0101 (hybrid) in continuous memory and defaults the odometer display to all dashes (---).
If the IC receives invalid data for more than 5 seconds, the IC sets DTC U2200 and defaults the odometer display to all dashes (---).
- DTC B2143 (NVM Memory Failure) - a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the IC Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) is corrupted. If the IC determines the NVM to be corrupt, the IC sets DTC B2143 and displays ERROR in the Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) display (base cluster) area or message center (message center cluster).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM (non-hybrid)
- TCM (hybrid)
- IC
