Removal And Installation

  1. With the ignition lock cylinder in the ON position, press the ignition lock cylinder release button with a suitable tool and pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the steering column.
  2. Remove the 3 screws and the lower steering column shroud.
    • Remove the tilt column handle (if equipped).
  3. Remove the upper steering column shroud.
  4. Pulling firmly in a rearward direction, remove the steering column opening cover. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE article.
  5. Disconnect the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver electrical connector.
  6. Remove the screw and the PATS transceiver.
    7. NOTE: Replacement of the PATS transceiver does not require the PATS keys to be programmed into the IC again.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
