Pinpoint Test D: The Delayed Accessory Is Inoperative

  1. D1 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY 
    • Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay
    • Carry out the Accessory Delay Relay Component Test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
    • Did the accessory delay relay pass the component test? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D2.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. D2 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY FOR VOLTAGE

    • Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay pin 30, harness side and ground; and between accessory delay relay pin 86, harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts for both measurements? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D3.
    2. NO  : VERIFY battery junction box (BJB) fuse 7 (60A) and CJB fuse 22 (15A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 964 (DB/LG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: CJB Circuit Breaker 42 (20A)

    • Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 87, circuit 964 (DB/LG), harness side and CJB circuit breaker 42 (20A), circuit 964 (DB/LG), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. D4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1004 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: IC C220B

    • Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 85, circuit 1004 (LB/RD), harness side and IC C220B-12, circuit 1004 (LB/RD) harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) AND WARNING CHIMES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
