Pinpoint Test D: The Door Locks Operate Only One Way

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: The side and rear cargo doors equipped with the E-Guard Cargo Protection SystemTM , will not unlock electronically or with the door lock rod.
  1. D1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED VSM DTCs FROM THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS 
    • Check for recorded VSM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 
    1. YES  : For DTC B2574 or B2575, go to Pinpoint Test E .
    2. NO  : Go to  D2.
  2. D2 CHECK THE SUSPECT DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: Suspect Door Lock Control Switch
    • Carry out the door lock control switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
    • Is the door lock control switch OK? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D3.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new door lock control switch. REFER to Door Lock Control Switch - Front Door  or Door Lock Control Switch - Rear Door . TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. D3 CHECK CIRCUITS 119 (PK/YE) AND 120 (PK/LG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: VSM C2113b
    • If the doors do not lock, measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch and VSM as follows:
      Suspect Door Lock Switch Connector-Pin Circuit VSM Connector-Pin
      LH C508-12 119 (PK/YE) C2113b-8
      RH C629-4 119 (PK/YE) C2113b-8
      Rear C4121-5 119 (PK/YE) C2113b-8
    • If the doors do not unlock, measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch and VSM as follows:
      Suspect Door Lock Switch Connector-Pin Circuit VSM Connector-Pin
      LH C508-5 120 (PK/LG) C2113b-7
      RH C629-9 120 (PK/LG) C2113b-7
      Rear C4121-1 120 (PK/LG) C2113b-7
    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  D4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. D4 CHECK FOR CORRECT VSM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
