Network Communication

The following audio system components communicate via the MS-CAN:
- Audio control module (ACM)
- Navigation ACM
- Satellite digital audio receiver system (SDARS) module
- Front display interface module (FDIM)
- Front controls interface module (FCIM)
The following messages are utilized by the audio system:

Indicates ignition switch position for power-up/shut-down. |
| Illumination Dimmer Level | SJB | ACM FDIM FCIM |
Controls the backlight intensity, based on the position of the dimmer switch. |
| Accessory Delay Status | SJB | ACM FDIM FCIM |
When active, this signal allows the audio component to be operated after the vehicle is shut off. |
| Vehicle Speed | Instrument cluster (IC) | ACM | Used by the ACM for the speed-compensated volume function (Audiophile only). |
| Navigation Radio Rolling Wheel Count | IC | ACM | Used by the navigation system to more accurately depict the vehicle position. |
| Button Press | FCIM | ACM FDIM |
Commands the ACM to carry out the appropriate function, and updates the FDIM display. |
| Satellite Radio Data | SDARS module | FDIM | Enables the FDIM to display satellite radio information. |
