Pinpoint Test B: The Shift Control Is Out Of Correct Gear Relationship

  1. B1 CHECK THE SELECTOR LEVER LINKAGE 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Depress the brake pedal.
    • Gain access to the selector lever linkage.
    • Actuate the selector lever in all positions.
    • Observe all linkages during operation.
    • Is the linkage damaged? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new component as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  B2.
  2. B2 CHECK THE SELECTOR LEVER CABLE 
    • Check the selector lever cable and bracket installation.
    • Is the selector lever cable installed correctly and adjusted? 
    1. YES  : VERIFY that the transmission range (TR) sensor is correctly adjusted. REFER to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - CD4E article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : ADJUST or INSTALL a new selector lever cable as necessary.
