Pinpoint Test A: DTCs B2900 and P0630 - Incorrect Vehicle Identification

Normal Operation

The fire suppression system module (FSSM) monitors the communication for a police package specific vehicle ID. If an unexpected condition or vehicle identification number (VIN) is detected, the FSSM stores DTC B2900 and/or P0630 in continuous memory.

DTC B2900 (VIN Mismatch) - sets when the FSSM detects a VIN that is unexpected.

DTC P0630 (VIN Not Programmed or Incompatible - ECM/PCM) - sets when the FSSM detects an unexpected or un-programmed VIN.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

PCM configuration
Controller area network (CAN) communication bus
FSSM

PINPOINT TEST A: DTCs B2900 AND P0630 - INCORRECT VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION

NOTE: Most faults are due to connector and/or wiring concerns. Carry out a thorough inspection and verification before proceeding with the pinpoint test.

NOTE: The fire suppression system must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

A1 CHECK THE CAN COMMUNICATION
- Review the recorded DTCs from the FSSM self-test.
- Is DTC U1900 present?
1. YES : REFER to the FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM MODULE (FSSM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX .
2. NO : Go to A2.
A2 CHECK THE VIN
- Key in ON position.
- Access the PCM VIN.
- Does the PCM display the correct VIN?
1. YES : INSTALL a new FSSM. REFER to Fire Suppression System Module (FSSM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
2. NO : CONFIGURE the PCM using the correct police package specific information. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
