Valve Cover - LH: Installation

  1. Install new gaskets. Make sure the gaskets are correctly seated on the valve cover.

    NOTE: If the valve cover is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can result in future oil leakage.
  3. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.

  5. Install the RH valve cover, the 8 bolts and 2 stud bolts.
    • Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  7. Position the oil level indicator tube and install the bolt.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  8. Attach the 3 wiring harness retainers to the LH valve cover studs.
  9. Position the power steering reservoir and install the 2 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  10. Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
  11. Install the LH radio interference capacitor and nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  12. Connect the fuel supply tube. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
  13. Connect the 4 LH fuel injector electrical connectors.
  14. Using a new gasket, install the TB and spacer assembly and the 4 bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  15. Connect the EVAP hose to the TB spacer.
  16. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose to the TB spacer.
  17. Connect the electronic throttle control electrical connector.
  18. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
  19. Install the LH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 5.4L (4V) .
  20. Install the ACL assembly and ACL outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
  21. Install the power brake booster. For additional information, refer to POWER BRAKE ACTUATION .
  22. Install the 4 nuts and the strut tower cross brace.
    • Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

  24. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
