Selector Lever Cable & Bracket - Column Shift: Removal

    WARNING: Shut off the electrical power to the air suspension system prior to hoisting or jacking an air suspension equipped vehicle. Failure to do so may result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which may result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  1. If equipped, turn the air suspension switch to the OFF position.
  2. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM article. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.
  3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  4. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission.
    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the selector lever cable from the manual control lever.
    2. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket.
    3. Remove and discard the selector lever cable retainer.

  6. Unclip the selector lever cable from the clips that route the cable upward toward the top of the engine compartment.
  7. Remove the bolts and the selector lever cable bracket from the transmission.

  9. From the engine compartment, unclip the selector lever cable from the clip that routes the cable toward the bulkhead.
  10. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the steering column.
    1. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the transmission selector lever arm and support.
    2. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the steering column bracket.
    3. Remove and discard the selector lever cable retainer.

  12. From the engine compartment, use a suitable tool to push the rubber grommet through the bulkhead.
  13. From the passenger compartment, remove the selector lever cable from the vehicle.
