Digital Transmission Range (TR) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2009 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The digital transmission range (TR) sensor is located on the outside of the transmission at the manual lever. The TR sensor completes the start circuit in PARK and NEUTRAL, and the back-up lamp circuit in REVERSE. The TR sensor also opens/closes a set of 4 switches that are monitored by the PCM to determine the position of the manual lever (P, R, N, D, 2, 1).
