Removal And Installation

CAUTION: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration of the rubber.

CAUTION: Oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators may cause the exhaust hanger isolators to separate from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.

WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM article. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
Remove the rear suspension lateral arms. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION article.
Remove the rear coil springs. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION article.
Remove and discard the 2 nuts and the clamp.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

NOTE: Check the isolator for wear or damage. Install a new isolator as necessary.

Detach the isolator.

NOTE: Carefully turn the muffler and tailpipe assembly counterclockwise around the rear axle to remove.

Detach the isolator and remove the muffler and tailpipe.

NOTE: Install new exhaust fasteners. Do not tighten the fasteners until all components are assembled.

NOTE: Alternately tighten the fasteners to specification, to draw flanges together evenly.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- To install, tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft).
