Removal And Installation

CAUTION:
Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration of the rubber.
CAUTION:
Oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators may cause the exhaust hanger isolators to separate from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
- Remove the rear suspension lateral arms. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION article.
- Remove the rear coil springs. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION article.
- Remove and discard the 2 nuts and the clamp.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Detach the isolator.
- Detach the isolator and remove the muffler and tailpipe.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- To install, tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb-ft).
- If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
WARNING:
Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
article. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
Check the isolator for wear or damage. Install a new isolator as necessary.

Carefully turn the muffler and tailpipe assembly counterclockwise around the rear axle to remove.
NOTE:
Install new exhaust fasteners. Do not tighten the fasteners until all components are assembled.
NOTE:
Alternately tighten the fasteners to specification, to draw flanges together evenly.
