Pinpoint Test C: The Turn Signal Left On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

- C1 CHECK THE TURN SIGNAL LAMP OPERATION
- Key in ON position.
- Verify the turn signal operation.
- Do the turn signals operate correctly?
- YES : Go to C2.
- NO : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article to continue diagnosis of the turn signals.
- C2 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Drive the vehicle and observe the speedometer/odometer for correct operation.
- Does the speedometer/odometer operate correctly?
- YES : Go to C3.
- NO : REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article to continue diagnosis of the speedometer/odometer.
- C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
