Pinpoint Test F: The Door Locks Operate Only One Way
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- F1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED VSM DTCs FROM THE ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded VSM DTCs from the on-demand self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- F2 RERUN THE VSM ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Suspect Door Lock Control Switch
- Key in ON position.
- Erase the DTCs, then rerun the VSM on-demand self-test.
- Is DTC B1309 or B1341 recorded?
- YES : Go to F5.
- NO : INSTALL a new door lock control switch for the switch in question. REFER to Door Lock Control Switch in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F3 CHECK CIRCUITS 119 (PK/YE) AND 120 (PK/LG) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Suspect Door Lock Control Switch
- Disconnect: VSM C3008b
- Measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch C505-2 (driver) or C605-2 (passenger), circuit 119 (PK/YE), harness side and the VSM C3008b-9, circuit 119 (PK/YE), harness side; and between the suspect door lock control switch C505-6 (driver) or C605-6 (passenger), circuit 120 (PK/LG), harness side and the VSM C3008b-1, circuit 120 (PK/LG), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- YES : Go to F4.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F4 CHECK CIRCUIT 119 (PK/YE) AND CIRCUIT 120 (PK/LG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the suspect door lock control switch C505-2 (driver) or C605-2 (passenger), circuit 119 (PK/YE), harness side and ground; and between the suspect door lock control switch C505-6 (driver) or C605-6 (passenger), circuit 120 (PK/LG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to F6.
- F5 CHECK CIRCUIT 119 (PK/YE) AND CIRCUIT 120 (PK/LG) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the suspect door lock control switch C505-2 (driver) or C605-2 (passenger), circuit 119 (PK/YE), harness side and ground; and between the suspect door lock control switch C505-6 (driver) or C605-6 (passenger), circuit 120 (PK/LG), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- YES : Go to F7.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F6 CHECK THE SUSPECT DOOR LOCK CONTROL SWITCH
- Carry out the door lock control switch component test for the suspect door lock control switch. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
- Is the suspect door lock control switch OK?
- YES : Go to F7.
- NO : INSTALL a new door lock control switch as necessary. REFER to Door Lock Control Switch in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F7 CHECK FOR CORRECT VSM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
