Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The indicator flasher relay receives voltage from the central junction box (CJB) fuse 13 (10A) through circuit 296 (WH/VT). The indicator flasher relay provides voltage to the multifunction switch through circuit 44 (LB), which provides voltage to the turn signal lamps depending on the position of the multifunction switch. When the multifunction switch is placed in the RH TURN position, current flows from the multifunction switch to the RH front turn signal and signal mirror (if equipped) through circuit 2 (WH/LB) and to the RH rear turn signal through circuit 5 (OG/LB). When the multifunction switch is placed into the LH TURN position, current flows from the multifunction switch to the LH front turn signal and signal mirror (if equipped) through circuit 3 (LG/WH) and to the LH rear turn signal bulb through circuit 9 (LG/OG). Circuit grounds for the indicator flasher relay and each turn signal bulb are accomplished through circuit 57 (BK). The timed on/off cycle is determined in the indicator flasher relay and is set to flash approximately 80 times per minute if both the front and rear indicators operate. If only one turn signal lamp operates, the indicator flasher relay flashes the lamps approximately 160 times per minute.
