Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Mariner and 2006 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The motor electronics (M/E) coolant pump is electrically driven and controlled by the PCM through the M/E coolant pump relay. The PCM energizes the M/E coolant pump relay by pulling the M/E coolant pump output to ground when the ignition is in the ON position.
