Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Mariner and 2006 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The theft indicator alerts the operator that a theft system malfunction has occurred or that the theft system is armed when the ignition switch is in the OFF position. The theft indicator operates with a message over the communication network from the powertrain control module (PCM) when the ignition switch is in the RUN or START position and is controlled by the instrument cluster in the OFF and ACC positions.
