Pinpoint Test C: The Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontally/Vertically - Passenger
- C1 CHECK THE SUPPLY TO THE SEAT MOTORS WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.NOTE: If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered.NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, carry out the following:
- Depower the SRS. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING in the General Procedures.
- Disconnect the passenger seat side air bag C316.
- Connect restraint system diagnostic tool 418-133 to the passenger seat side air bag C316.
- Connect the battery ground cable.
- Disconnect: Seat Motor C3015.
- Measure the voltage between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and ground, while activating the seat control switch according to the following chart.SEAT MOTOR & CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Seat Motor Connector-Pin Circuit Seat Control Switch Position C3015-1 987 (RD/WH) Rearward C3015-2 984 (YE/LB) Front UP C3015-3 985 (RD/LB) Front DOWN C3015-4 986 (YE/WH) Forward C3015-5 989 (RD/LG) Rear DOWN C3015-6 988 (YE/LG) Rear UP - Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
WARNING: Be sure that nobody is in the vehicle and that there is nothing blocking or set in front of any air bag module when the battery ground cable is connected.Yes : GO to C2.
No : GO to C3.
- For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, carry out the following:
- C2 CHECK THE MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR THE CORRECT GROUND
- Measure the resistance between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and ground according to the following chart.SEAT MOTOR CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Seat Motor Connector-Pin Circuit C3015-1 987 (RD/WH) C3015-2 984 (YE/LB) C3015-3 985 (RD/LB) C3015-4 986 (YE/WH) C3015-5 989 (RD/LG) C3015-6 988 (YE/LG) - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new seat track. REFER to SEAT TRACK . TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
No : INSTALL a new seat control switch. REFER to SEAT CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Measure the resistance between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and ground according to the following chart.
- C3 CHECK THE MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C627.
- Measure the resistance between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and ground according to the following chart.SEAT MOTOR CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Seat Motor Connector-Pin Circuit C3015-1 987 (RD/WH) C3015-2 984 (YE/LB) C3015-3 985 (RD/LB) C3015-4 986 (YE/WH) C3015-5 989 (RD/LG) C3015-6 988 (YE/LG) - Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes : GO to C4.
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- C4 CHECK THE MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and passenger seat control switch C627 pins, harness side according to the following chart.SEAT MOTOR & CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Seat Control Switch Connector-Pin Circuit Seat Motor Connector-Pin C627-10 987 (RD/WH) C3015-1 C627-8 984 (YE/LB) C3015-2 C627-1 985 (RD/LB) C3015-3 C627-9 986 (YE/WH) C3015-4 C627-4 989 (RD/LG) C3015-5 C627-5 988 (YE/LG) C3015-6 - Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new seat control switch. REFER to SEAT CONTROL SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat side air bag module C316. CONNECT passenger seat side air bag module C316. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Measure the resistance between seat motor C3015 pins, harness side and passenger seat control switch C627 pins, harness side according to the following chart.
