Pinpoint Test G: The Passive Anti-Theft System (Pats) Indicator Is Always/Never On-No Anti-Theft 3 Second Prove-Out

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connectors.
- G1 CHECK THE ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: PCM C175t.
- Connect a fused (15A) jumper wire between the PCM C175t-33, circuit 1269 (OG/RD), harness side and ground.
- Does the anti-theft indicator illuminate?
Yes : GO to G4.
No : GO to G2.
- G2 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR CIRCUIT 1269 (OG/RD)
- Disconnect: Sunload Sensor C287.
- Measure the voltage between the sunload sensor C287-4, circuit 1269 (OG/RD), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes : GO to G3.
No : VERIFY the CJB fuse 25 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- G3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1269 (OG/RD) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the PCM C175t-33, circuit 1269 (OG/RD), harness side and the sunload sensor C278-4, circuit 1269 (OG/RD), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes : INSTALL a new sunload sensor. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST system for normal operation.
- G4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION NOTE: When a new PCM is installed, the encoded ignition keys must be programmed.
- Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS .
PROGRAM the encoded ignition keys. REFER to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
