Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis and 2006 Ford Crown Victoria. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The overdrive (O/D) off function is controlled by the O/D off switch located on the shifter assembly. The O/D OFF switch is hardwired to the powertrain control module (PCM) through circuit 224 (TN/WH). When the O/D OFF function is selected, voltage is supplied to the PCM. The O/D off status is transmitted to the instrument cluster from the PCM over the controller area network (CAN).
