Pinpoint Test L: The Fire Suppression System Indicator Is Always On (Police Vehicles Only)

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
  1. L1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND FSM SELF-TESTS 
    • Check for recorded FSM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  : If DTC B29B3 is recorded, GO to L2.

    No  : GO to L2.

  2. L2 CHECK CIRCUIT 2318 (LG/RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C2220.
    • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C2220-10, circuit 2318 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 

    Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : GO to L3.

  3. L3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  4. L4 CHECK FOR CORRECT FSM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the battery. Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
    • Wait approximately 60 seconds to allow the FSM back-up power to discharge.
    • Disconnect the FSM connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the FSM connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Connect the battery.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new FSM. REFER to FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM . TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
