Pinpoint Test J: The Yellow Anti-Lock Brake System (Abs) Warning Indicator Is Always On

CAUTION: The Flex Probe Kit must be used for all test connections. Use of standard multimeter probes may damage wiring terminals.
  1. J1 CHECK THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE FOR DTCs 
    • Connect the scan tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Using the diagnostic tool, retrieve and document continuous DTCs for the ABS module.
    • Are DTCs retrieved? 

    Yes  : GO to ABS MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .

    No  : GO to J2.

  2. J2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATIONS TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Using the diagnostic tool, check the communication with the instrument cluster.
    • Does the diagnostic tool communicate with the instrument cluster? 

    Yes  : GO to J3.

    No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .

  3. J3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
