Removal and Installation

WARNING: Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING & CABLES -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.

NOTE: Clean the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid electrical connector and the immediate surrounding area of any dirt or foreign material.

Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid electrical connector.
Disconnect the fresh air tube from the EVAP canister.
Disconnect the vapor tube assembly-to-EVAP canister quick connect couplings. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION - FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and the EVAP canister assembly.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
