Normal Operation - Freestyle and Five Hundred
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Mercury Montego, 2005 Ford Freestyle, and 2005 Ford Five Hundred. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When the brake pedal is applied, the stoplamp switch routes voltage to the smart junction box (SJB), the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module and the brake shift interlock solenoid (internal to the floor shifter, also called the selector lever) through circuit 810 (RD/LG). The SJB then sends voltage through circuits 1363 (WH/RD), 1365 (GY/LB) and 1374 (TN/LB) to the LH stoplamp, the RH stoplamp and the high mounted stoplamp, respectively.
